Short Stay Intensive Rehabilitation - Enabling Independent Living
Uplands Rehabilitation Centre (URC) is a physical rehabilitation centre with over 30 years' experience of providing high quality physical rehabilitation and cognitive rehabilitation therapy for the Essex community.
To achieve wellbeing after injury or illness, a person needs not only to restore their previous positive routines and habits, but they need both physical rehab and functional rehab to adapt to, and overcome the long-term effects of their disability.
URC is a 17 bedded unit with state-of-the-art facilities incorporated into three beautiful period houses in Westcliff-on-Sea in Essex. With all the accessibility and facilities of a hospital ward set in a homely environment, rooms can quickly become a person’s individual space regardless of the complexity of their needs.
Room sizes have been purposely kept spacious to allow ease of access and to enable the space to be flexible for each individual and their bespoke rehabilitation package.
The number of residents has been kept low to enable each person to receive a bespoke therapy rehabilitation package and to feel they are being treated as an individual in their own right as well as being part of the small rehabilitation community within the unit.
URC has managed to combine the aspects of hospital and home to create the best rehabilitative and therapy environment, however, the real key to its consistent success is its highly skilled and specialist therapy team that includes:
- Nurses
- Occupational Therapists
- Physiotherapists
- Psychotherapists
- Speech and Language Therapists
- Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine
The therapist’s role is to support the rehabilitation facilitators with establishing the best way to achieve body rehabilitation for daily function in order to provide therapeutic input and therapy rehabilitation to address the root cause of an impairment.
Through this multidisciplinary approach the person will receive a bespoke physical rehabilitation and therapy intervention package that will allow them to regain personal skills lost as a result of the injury or illness, return to positive daily routines and achieve personal goals that will increase a sense of wellbeing and value before returning to their chosen destination on discharge.
